New Friends

I couldn't resist putting these guys in their natural habitat...

Owl is the biggest one yet at about 9 inches tall. He's for a wooly friend at the BobbinTree!

This little guy just seemed so at home in the maple tree. :)

An August Beauty

I bought this daylily many years ago at our local farmers market. I can't remember the variety name. "Apricot something or other" has been treating me to it's beautiful blooms year after year and now I have two clumps of it. I love the lemony center and the slightly ruffled edges of the petals, plus the fact that it's a late season bloomer to take up the slack in the flower beds. Can't beat a late bloomer!

Backyard Chatter

August is slipping by quickly and there are signs of a shift in the seasons already. One of those sure signs of fall approaching is the call of crows gathering to make what seems like a plan. You can hear them from a long way off in the distance, calling loudly, so no one misses their important announcement. You can't ignore it.

On a smaller scale the little birds that flock to the feeders are busy stocking up when the squirrels aren't being greedy.

I can't imagine a day without the sound of birds. It feels like a reassurance that things are carrying on as they should despite our own list of chores and obligations. Listen up!

Wish it were a pair of socks I was mending (or DARNing)! Blog neglect, major slow down on the work in the studio caused by another self inflicted injury. So that's two so far this summer. I'm really hoping I can postpone the "everything comes in threes" to sometime after Christmas if it must be. I am on the mend and have been felting but not weaving much. In the mean time the garden is treating me to a parade of color between rain drops and the sunflowers are growing taller, showing promise of blooms for the fall.

Hollyhocks, daylilies and poppy buds...

Apologies to anyone trying to find me at the studio working and many thanks to all who are finding my work at Arts North, The Water's Edge and the CBCCD Gallery. Much appreciated!
