A Grey May Day

There have a been a few of them lately, grey, over cast days. It is spring after all and I needed a boost of colour. Again. Even though I do love a rustic backdrop I like to put a pop of colour in my weaving. So I started with the branches and some smoked rattan and gave each of these little wishbone baskets a garden look.

I even found a few delights in my perennial beds to pluck. Not the daisies yet (florist) but the willow, hyacinth and forget-me-nots that have naturalized. The last one is tiny and just needed one pansy to adorn it.

The Turtle Gang

It felt like the perfect day for these. Amphibious creatures like warm sunny spots. According to one of my books, "basking in the sun raises the painted turtles body temperature and activates digestive enzymes". That must be why we all start craving a good barbeque  at the beginning of summer!

This little fellow has gulped down a lavender sachet. He'll be appearing at a Bobbin Tree workshop this month.

Big News!

See over there on the right? It's a link to CabotandRose.com!

Four months in the making with my incredibly talented friend Teena Marie Fancey. It is a new venture for both us to have an online shop. I call it a venture because it's certainly doesn't feel like work. We're having too much fun. Things will evolve over the next few months as we continue to share brand new ideas and some interesting vintage finds. It feels good. You know, blue skies, spring fresh air good...

Find out all about us at cabotandrose.com and you can shop at redtwigbrowntwig.ca now too! Lots more to get added to the site so check it out whenever you get a chance.
