She has launched a new website full of great ways to connect with and keep up on the latest happenings in the fibre arts community here and around the big ole web. It has everything. You can check out links to artists, organizations, events and there's even a classifieds page for all things fibre art and a blog for the latest scoop.  Drop by for a visit and subscribe so you don't miss a thing!

Bait Nets and Baskets

Yes, they go together nicely. Here's a sneak peek at a new weaving project.
I love how the faded bait net worked perfectly in amongst what I call "Atlantic green" reed and the grapevine rattan. It is a good blend of textures too. I'm working on new pieces with the theme flotsam and jetsam and it is plentiful on our beaches.

Such Promise!

Lene from Lakeshore Willows shipped these off to me this week and I can't wait to get them in the ground.

It's -3C here today so it isn't happening right away but I'll make a home for them in some pots to give them a good start and then consider planting them when they have some nice healthy roots. It was fun to pick through the inventory Lakeshore Willows has and decide what might take hold here in Cape Breton soil. If you want to have a willow patch of your own she is shipping available cuttings until the end of April. There is such promise in those stems! Thanks Lene.

Inspiration from the tide

A friend dropped off a bag of bit and pieces from the beach for me. She lives on the ocean and collected lots of debris amongst the shells and seaweed. I had requested some of the human contribution to the stuff that gets washed up on shore and apparently it took no time at all to fill half a blue bag with the trash. There was far more than I included in the picture, sadly.

I definitely prefer natures flotsam to what mankind contributes. So on a more positive note, look at the gorgeous colors in these sea urchin shells. It's easy to find inspiration in nature when you look at the alternative.

Purple and green are a perfect combination don't you think? No thank you Labatts Blue.

It's Monday Get Hoppin'

The little purple basket I made with the Wonka Nerds box was for a special project. It belongs to a fine fellow I created for the Time Machine Candy Works Easter draw. I am so pleased that he is helping raise funds for Transition House here in Cape Breton, a very important place for women and children.

He's all needle felted wool right down to his collar. I wish I had taken pictures of his feet. He has sweet little pink toe pads on them all. Mister Bunny was of course inspired by my little grey hares!

How could you resist a visit downtown to the Time Machine! There's lots of great loot to go along with that rabbit from some wonderful shops on Charlotte Street so check it out. A big thanks to Dave at the Time machine for putting this all together.
