Birch Bark Wreaths are Back

I absolutely love making these wreaths and each one is a little different then the next.

They seem to take on the colors of whatever is in their surroundings and depending on the light they show the white and grey or copper and even pink tones.
This time I'm keeping one for myself! Perhaps this one with the copper leaves. The others will be available at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design Market on Dec 1st and 2nd.
There is always half and half too.

Wonderful never saw a bark wreath before, I just took my first basket weaving class and I am hooked, glad I found your blog.
Thanks so much Linda. Baskets can be addictive even if you don't weave them!

They are gorgeous!
How/where do you harvest the bark?
Thanks Lene! We are fortunate to have a lots of birch in the 10 acres behind the studio. I only "harvest" off deal fall trees. There is always a lot of bark that naturally sheds and falls to the ground so I scoop it up on our walks. One of the few blessings of a Noreaster wind.

Beautiful wreath that you have in there! May I ask if you happen to use landscape bark mulches too?
